I don't have IE7 so I can't test there. However, out of curiosity, why are
you cloning the "id" attribute (the 2nd 'true')  if you're just changing
right afterwards? Also, this may be just b/c it's a small example, but if
you click "clone" multiple times it will create multiple elements with the
same ID, which is not valid markup. When you click "remove clone" the
browser may be smart enough to find the first clone it comes to and removes
it... rinse and repeat until all clones are gone. I'm not sure how IE7 acts
in response to this. Wish I could have been more helpful.
