After our two major auctions closed on Saturday and Sunday, we spent all
day Monday, Tuesday, and half of Wednesday, packing EVERY single one of the
926 items we sold (and since OUR auctions had NO reserves, every single
item actually sold). Packing was especially difficult for these items,
because not only were lots of the items very valuable, but they ranged in
size from tiny fragile glass slides up to a linenbacked six-sheet. In OUR
auctions, we did not charge ANYTHING for U.S. shipping (and non-U.S. buyers
only paid actual shipping cost), but instead of trying to save on shipping
expenses, I went ahead and packed every single item as though it had sold
for a zillion dollars (I would love to see the faces of the buyers when
they get and open their packages!). We got everything packed by Wednesday
at noon, and every item that has been paid for by the end of Thursday has
now been shipped. Most went out on Wednesday and Thursday, and the
remainder of what was paid for by the end of Thurday was sent today. We
sent out some of the items that were paid for today, and the rest of those
will be sent on Monday.

I am very proud and pleased to report that as of Friday, all but 237 of the
926 items have been paid for. I have looked over the list of the unpaid
for items, and I have no reason to think any of them won't pay (and most of
those people told me they have mailed their payment). I guess having the
extra registration requirement really paid off. It has resulted in a 99%
completed ratio each time!

I ran these major auctions exactly as I would want any auction I would bid
in to be run. Honest lengthy detailed condition descriptions of all items,
bidding run by a third party (so I could not "cheat" anyone if I wanted
to), NO buyer's premiums, MO U.S. shipping, and NO sales tax (except in
Missouri). I packed everything wonderfully and sent it quickly.

Remember all of the above the next time someone starts talking about the
"higher price" I got for something (when they have the same item for
less). Did that person (or auction) also offer all of the above. If not,
they are comparing apples and oranges!

For those who are wondering, I will begin soliciting for consignments for
my next two major auctions in around a month.
