While I agree that these are desirable titles with solid pricing right now, I have my doubts as to how much higher they can go in price over the next few decades because of the problem of reproductions and fakes. All of these titles have had "legal" full-size reproductions made of them and sold by the thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands in some cases. Of course, it is possible to identify a "legal" reproduction so most people shouldn't mistake it for a theater-original, but even so the simple fact is that if you want a one-sheet sized print of these posters on your wall, you don't have to buy an original to get it. This is simply not true of most "vintage" posters from earlier decades.   Then there's the issue of fakes -- reproductions that are printed with the intention of fooling people into thinking they are getting a theater-original. Some of these are very good and very hard to identify -- and have been printed up by the thousands. And are still being printed today if the demand is there. You can pretend this isn't happening, but it is.   I'm afraid these two factors will prevent posters from the '70s and '80s from truly skyrocketing in value. UNLESS -- and this is a big if -- unless there were some organization that was created in the future that would take an impartial and scientific approach to identifying fakes from originals. An organization that could publish this information on a public website without fear of being sued by the those who are printing and selling the fakes. An organization that would make it possible for average buyers to know if they are getting a genuine theater-original or not.
