Viva La MopoBid...!!!! Rick (ilovefilms)

well yes & no.

I fully support the creation & benefits of MoPoBID, however it has
fundamental problems that work against it.

1) not enough merchandise to buy. this is for more than one reason. One is
lack of buyer participation. However I do not lay that blame all on buyers.

2) next is dealer participation and the willingness of sellers to list
material in numbers even if we are not selling anything. It's called "pay
now & benefit later" (that can also be used for buyer participation)

3) another is the relative difficulty in listing many items, especially in
comparison to eBay where we all have software that uploads hundreds of
auctions at once, whereas on MoPoBID there is no such software and the 30
or 40 auctions I have on MoPoBID took me 3 hours to list. That is not
beneficial to MoPoBID for it to be so time consuming.. especially in
comparison to it's competitor, however much it's competitor sux. and by the
way JR, havingthe option to relist easily isn't enough.. after the fiasco I
had earlier this year with my 1000 lobby card sale at eBay & the worthless
value I had in relisting that stuff means that in general, I won't be
relisting much at all ever again. So my only concern is the first time
listing which takes lots of time

4) and this is not a snub at you JR.. is the financial inability of JR to
be able to promote the site or the unwillingness of dealers & fans to help.
JR does not have the cash to lay out which is totally understandable to do
much promotion and if buyers don't buy which results in fees being paid to
MoPoBID, or sellers don't list because they aren't selling anything which
is the other revenue stream for MoPoBID, then where does the money come
from to do ads??

why can't some of you promote MoPoBIDby handing out flyers from your tables
at conventions, or putting a flyer out in the window of your store or just
putting a highly visible link from your own websites. All of these JR has
told me he has problems getting help with.

it's simple, if you all wish to see MoPoBID become a viable outlet you (or
we) must all participate in one way or another. If you're all so willing to
help out Kathy Klauer by bidding on her stuff.. what about anybody else???
Who says that I, totally strapped for cash due to the added expenses of my
gallery which are $4000 a month now and I haven't taken in a penny yet
because I don't have the cash for adverts either. By the way.. I 've paid
out that 4000 for 3 months now.. I am really strapped.

Dealers if you wish to see bidders, you have to get stuff listed, and JR..
no matter how disagreeable it may be to outlay the cash you have to have a
way to upload auctions more easily (even if it is just a CSV file or
straight database to listing) because then we CAN list many items all the
time which is what brings the bidders over. A bid sniper would also help as
just like with eBay, I cannot be at my computer all the time and forget
when items I want are coming up as well, which a sniper takes care of.

it's a symbiotic relationship folks... Dealers depend on buyers. Buyers
depend on dealers.. MoPoBID depends on both!!!!

so how MoPoBID fares in the future is up to everyone, not just JR. It's called "supporting your interests" and the question becomes.. how well are you willing to support your interests , and are you willing to put your money behind it in the hopes of a payoff down the road & past the horizon.
