great stuff Vaughn... i have goosebumps !!!
tell us more behind the scenes of Theatres stuff!!! this is what its
all about!
I can almost smell the carbons running..., smell the simplex oil...
and see that bluish white light.. booth glow..
somebody get me some buttered popcorn, some raisenettes and a coke...
Its showtime!!
the exhibitior or showman... was to me a major part of the entire
experiance that gave the spectacle of movies... they are gone replaced
by loops and platters and a on/off switch///:(
these Projectionist were skilled in performance standards set by smpte
and also took great pride in the gear... although some neglected the
gear in later years as the costs became so high for parts and
maintenance..
the preview trailers,,, the great interiors with moving curtains...and
the
burgandy velvatine stantion ropes, and the gold fringe Movie palace
interiors with sconses and ticket booths... and intricate pattern
carpet...
just made the productions plain exciteing....
and some Tom and Jerry Toons.... and we were on another planet...
especially if they were IB tech prints!!!
Hollywood Dream factory salutes union and non-union Projectionists and
theatre managers,,
what a lost art and craft!///
wow altec voice of the theatre cabinets and western electric tube
amps... sweet Analog!!!
gee willikers!!!!!!
and Many Mopers like Vaughn were there hands on and did those wonderful
shows...
Hats off To Vaughn K. Mann a Movie showman Pioneer!!!
best, Tom
