Actually, the link only LOOKS like it takes you to PayPal. What it actually
does is first take you to a place called "gesterfield.com" for a
split-second and THEN takes you to PayPal. That brief detour allows them to tag
you with a program that allows them to see your password when you enter it in
PayPal.
I certainly hope you did NOT use the link in the email message to go to
PayPal to check and see if that address had been added -- which is exactly
what they wanted you to do -- because if you did the bastards at
"gesterfield.com" now have your password! If you did click the link,
change your PayPal password immediately.
Once again, here is the GENERAL WARNING now being issued by all websites:
You should never click on a link sent to you in an unexpected email like this --
particularly if the message is asking you to do something with an account that
requires you logging in an using your password. Instead you should close the
email, navigate to PayPal on your own and then log-in as usual and check your
account.
The only time it is safe to click on a link in an email is if the message
is something you have caused to happen (like because you bid on an auction or
registered with a site that is sending you a confirmation or something).

Here is a new one. Doesn't it look real? And the link takes you to
paypal. But this name in fact has not been added to my paypal account, as best
as I can determine. I changed the password just in case. And I have contacted
Paypal just in case they sent me this in error. The whole thing is very
strange. Beware, once again!! They are getting craftier every day.
Laptopseller is indeed on ebay, by the way, with a feedback of -1. I dont know
how this has happened; anyone have any info out there??
