Bruce is actually that aging movie star Gary Coleman and through his genius of acting has taken on the role of Bruce H so perfectly I didnt notice it wasn't my friend whom I met in 1968 at the New York Comicon.
the real question is... did Bruce.. uh, I mean Gary, publish teh EC comic reprints in 1972???

I was just looking through some VERY old e-mails I sent and I discovered an e-mail I sent MoPo way back on February 26th, 1998!
First, some background. I had fairly recently joined MoPo, and some of the regulars at that time did NOT like my being there. I tried to help all the "newbie" collectors, many of whom were being sold repros as originals, common posters as rarities, etc, etc. Some of those I offended started a discussion claiming that I had "faked" many of the results from my Christie's auctions, and that "everyone" knew about it.
This was not easy to fight, as some of my main critics used anonymous e-mail addresses (it still amazes me that this is allowed, and that anyone takes such people seriously).
I spent a little time trying to answer these false "charges" but it soon became clear that there wasn't any point, as the people making the claims were doing so entirely without any facts, and so there was nothing to answer. It was really just an ugly smear campaign.
On 2/26/98 I posted the following: " In light of recent events I feel I must confess to the truth of certain matters (as I have been found out anyway). I want to make a full confession. None of the supposed ten Christie's auctions I pompously claim to have organized actually took place. All the results were really the result of shills I hired to bid up the posters to insane levels, thus forcing all collectors to pay much more for their posters. In fact every high price anyone has ever paid is directly a result of my actions. I made the posters look amazingly good through deceptive means. Not only did I make the posters appear to be in better condition than they were, but I also changed what the titles were. For example in this most recent auction all the posters started out life as Titanic one-sheets, but trick photography made them appear to be a variety of silent one-sheets, three-sheets, and six-sheets (and even a set of Island of Lost Souls lobby cards, which was very tricky). There have been a few actual sales, but the total for the ten auctions has not been nine million dollars, as I pompously claim, but actually $837.52. Similarly, the sales lists that I issue twice a year are also a big joke. I never had any of the posters, and just send out 2000 lists to confuse people. Finally I have nothing to do with the 14 books I pompously claim to have published. These do exist, but they were published by another Bruce Hershenson, who I have nothing to do with. I have been taking credit for his achievements for many years. Finally the two children I claim to have are actually actors hired from Central Casting. They say confession is good for the soul, and I must admit I feel better now that I have gotten this off my chest. I hope you can all forgive me.
Bruce Hershenson"
I discovered other of these old e-mails, and if MoPo members are interested, I can post some more. Many show just how wild the Internet was back then, when absolutely anything was OK (even cheating people) and anyone who told on the crooks was considered a "bad guy" (come to think of it, things haven't changed all that much, although I now have four kids, have published 38 books, have 20,600 customers, and have done 17 major auctions!).
