Bruce,
I've got two computers side by side. The first is my older Dell
Desktop, around 3 years old, running XP, and with a standard monitor and
video driver. The second is a new IBM thinkpad with LCD display and with
standard video driver.

The top image definitely looks darker than the bottom image on both
computers. However, both images look considerably lighter on the newer
Thinkpad. I did some simple checking to make sure that I had both systems
set to highest color quality (32 bit).

In comic terms, the desktop makes the top poster look like it has some
tanning while the bottom image looks off-white. The thinkpad makes the top
poster look like cream colored while the bottom poster is pure white. So,
the bottom image on the desktop looks slightly whiter than the top image on
the thinkpad.

I don't think there's much that you can do differently and that the
differences in computers, monitors, and video drivers will impact the
results. Unfortunately, it's another example of how far computers have to
go in order to be more like an applicance such as a TV.

Subject: [MOPO] YOU can really help me in less than a minute!

Yesterday I posted a link to a page containing one of our auction images,
asking members if it was "too dark". The responses I got were
inconclusive, and part of that might be because the original poster was
somewhat dark.

Here is a link to a new page with two new images, one with an image that
is
medium in darkness and the other with a pretty light image (with a white
background).

http://www.emovieposter.com/temp/dark_images.htm

Please look at both these images (and be sure to click on them to see the
"supersized" versions) and then take a minute to click on the e-mail link
on that page and tell me if you think the two new images are "too dark".

It would be most helpful if the many who posted yesterday did so again
today, but I would appreciate everyone's feedback.

I think I have a good idea on how to improve the images for everyone, but
I
need feedback from YOU!

Thanks!

Bruce
