There are so many great films that deal with politics. Somehow when I
think of the bad guy in political movies, I always think of the character actor
Edward Arnold. Anyway, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington is my personal
favorite. I can come into that movie at any spot and I have to watch
it to completion. How great was that performance by Jimmy Stewart? It's a
Wonderful Life is one of my all time favorite films and he was just as
incredible in that film. As Scott mentioned, so is Meet John Doe.
Frank Capra's my guy, so anything he did was pretty
great!! In more recent years, I thought All the President's
Men was a very good movie as was JFK. Lawrence of Arabia
is another movie that I think of as political, perhaps not in the same
sense as some of the other mentioned, and arguably one of the greatest
movies ever filmed. What about Birth of a Nation? That has some fairly
strong political connotations.
