All of y'all make excellent, informative and readable points about movies and their future in a "theatre" as opposed to "home entertainment."
I've always believed that, despite Hollywood's continues Offerings of Offal, that Movie Theatres would continue to flourish and provide worthwhile entertainment and enlightenment for years to come.
And then last night I went to a theatre and saw:
" ALEXANDER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "
AARRRGGHHHHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!!!!!!!
Maybe not!
Joe Bonelli ( numbed after three hours in Tinseltown in Pearl, Ms.!! And that was last NIGHT!!! )
(PS-- It was far easier, more comfortable and more palatable, to sit through the 12 hours of LOTR-The Trilogy in a single day last December! Even if my damned van DID die forever on the interstate the nex............arghh! Nevermind!)

I would agree with this point JR makes. It's the blockbuster movies that
will keep theaters around. Although video and dvd's are nice, there is nothing
like watching a movie on the big screen with all the flash and booming sound.
Spiderman just isn't the same on dvd, and I believe most people will never
have home theater systems. ie: (one day I found my big speakers, which were on
the TV/VCR/DVD/Stereo, in the garage .... the wife said they took up too much
room......!......) Regards, Martin
