John - Vertiginous duplicitous indeed! Oh well, at least Australia and India are in the same hemisphere, aren't they?

There was a stack of this Indian paper floating around Sydney a few years ago, including this re-release of VERTIGO.

Misrepresentation at best. This is obviously an Indian re-re-re-re-release. The seller should know better.

Subject: [MOPO] Romanian Posters

Dear Mopo:

The last post kind of got me thinking...

I love the Romanian poster for My Fair Lady listed below.  But, an almost $900 starting price seemed a bit high.  So, I was wondering if very many people in Romania could afford such items?  I looked up Romania's GDP and average wage (which is about $1,500 a year).  That means that the 40 posters listed below total 5 years worth of salary for the average Romanian!  And, since wage averages are skewed by the rich, that implies that MORE than half the population would have to work MORE than 5 years to afford those posters (and that assumes no income tax or living expenses, and every penny going towards those posters).

I love North America, but wouldn't it be nice if we could sell a My Fair Lady one sheet to some foreigner and get the equivalent of more than $20,000 (the average US wage is around $35,000 per year)?  Or a Sanjuro one sheet for $11,500?  Or, Umbrellas of Cherbourg for $12,500?  I guess that's the price we pay for having such strong economies.

But, of course, most poster collectors are from the West - and they set the prices, not the Romanians...

Would we be such profuse collectors if we had to pay such prices (and I thought a 1.65:1 US/Can exchange rate a couple years ago was horrible)?

Just thought that was kind of interesting, putting everything in perspective...

Good night,

Bob
