Just
wondering how many people still subscribe to Movie Collector's World. I
stumbled upon an old copy (Dec 1999) in my office while I was getting ready
to move to my new office - and just realized how much I missed it. I
think this internet thing sort of got in the way but looking back - oh
how I hated calling only to hear those words..."Sorry it sold
already'" DAMN.....oh how I later loved this showing up on my doorstep via
FedEx so I could grab all the hot deals prior to anyone else "yes I still
have it" - It was a place to peruse all the dealers in one
place. It was a place where Stephen Fisher would offer you $2,800 for
Creature of the Black Lagoon one sheet or $31,000 for a Black Cat one sheet (see
what our guy Todd has his for on ebay right now - beautiful poster btw).
It was a place to find Bags Unlimited, auction news, events, Reelin in the
news...Granada Posters, Moe's Movie Madness, Motion Picture Arts Gallery's full
page ad, The Last Moving Picture Company's alphabetical ads which always seem to
cut off just above the title I was looking for, the back page Bruce ad,
Walter Reuben (where I got my mint Tobor one sheet for a song many many many
years ago), J. Fields Studio, and Jerry Ohlinger's Monroe ads, handwritten ads
where you have to call to get a description of not only what kind of condition
the poster was in but what it actually looked liked - try visualizing a
polish poster for Alien being described on the phone - it just can't be
done...this was the reason I never picked up the reissue 1950's realart
poster of "Bride of Frankenstein" for $30.00. Oh how I miss my eyes going
bleary reading all the fine print ads, trying not to miss a thing. Oh
how I miss my higher phone bills from actually calling and talking to real live
fellow collectors. Ah...those were the days my friends, those were
the days... *************************************************************************** NOTE: Ce courriel est destine exclusivement au(x) destinataire(s) mentionne(s) ci-dessus et peut contenir de l'information privilegiee, confidentielle et/ou dispensee de divulgation aux termes des lois applicables.
