Does anybody feel, as I do, that the poster would be of a higher value if it were NM and unbacked?
I think that is unquestionably correct. I myself prefer
mint or near mint unbacked posters whenever I can find them! I
mean, who doesn't? Nonetheless, this is an amazing poster,
hard to find in this condition backed or unbacked, and will be on
display shortly after I receive it. Yes, I could probably have
found one for slightly less. I'm ok with that.
As others have previously commented, prices are rising for 50s
and early 60s science fiction material, as more and more people like
myself who were enthralled and yes frightened by these movies every
weekend as small kids, reach the point where we want and can afford to
recapture something of those thrills. Pretty standard stuff,
really. You know, like a jaded old Martian deciding to invade
Earth to relive past glories. Or something like that.
