Pictures are divine to gaze upon and of course, the obligatory drooling
session begins, but I agree that information is key.

And no, it would be very lop-sided if the Yanks and Aussies gave all the
input but I'm sure that won't be the case if such a book saw the light of
day. It could end up with a very international slant despite the topic.

Our own bookI'll take 20 copies ............................................
not really. So if this book were to happen and presumably it would be on
British Quads, what would the outline of the content be? Introduction?
Just pics with short descriptions of Title, year, studio? Or would there be
a history section? A breakdown by decade? A short biography of the
artist/designers? Influences of the artist/designers? Favorite fetishes of
the artist/designers? Ooops, I mean paint brushes. Bruce's books are nice
for pictures but I also like text describing the evolution of the poster
itself and any stories behind particular posters. Okay, it's someone else's
turn to chime in.

Philipp recently suggested that we publish our own movie poster book. I think this is a rather good idea. There are a few online companies (Shutterfly, Ofoto) that allow you to upload text and photos and publish just one book if you want. The results are not perfect, because it's hard to know exactly how the company is going to adjust the exposure of your jpegs. My brother created a book about his Alaska vacation through Shutterfly, and it came out pretty good. The technology is pretty amazing considering that when I was in grade school, the best thing we had was these ditto machines that used smelly purple ink that bled all over the paper.

Enough rambling. Here is a preview of my upcoming movie poster book:
