I did a USO show with Jeff Baxter a few years back in San Diego. He is continuing his exemplary session career in L.A. as well as producing the occasional act. Great guitarist and a fascinating guy. He is a CNN junkie who is an expert on politics. He has, I am told by reliable sources, acted as a consultant on various matters for the CIA. Greg Douglass Phil Edwards Cinema Arts wrote:
Where is Jeff Baxter now?
Great musician. A couple of months back I listened to the whole Dan 4 CD set from beginning to end without a break. Their epic concert in London in the 1970s which Fagen introduced as a "Rock and Roll Orchestra" has never left my brain. A 12 piece band as I recall, brass section and every great LA session player I ever dreamed of seeing.
If you like the Dan, then the CD THE NEW YORK ROCK AND SOUL REVUE which reunites several of them with some great singers, is worth having... industrial strength musicianship.

Hi Gang, Question about Marlon Brando and the Bounty film:
From a Quote by Tiron Porter - ex-Bass player for Doobie Brothers and
admitted
cinephile.
""The first videotape I ever saw was this giant Betamax machine at Jeff Baxter’s house," said Porter, referencing the infamous Doobie/Steely Dan guitarist everyone knew as "Skunk." "He had Marlon Brando’s own cut of ‘Mutiny on the Bounty,’ in which all
the
women were naked. Brando took these long soliloquies with all these women
in
the background. I have no idea where it came from or what ever happened to
it.""
Does anyone HAVE this copy of Bounty? I'd like to see it.
Regards, Gary
