JR makes a great point and shows he is a passionate person.. Bravo.
JR..
But JR... having a Death Rule or a rule to be polite..?? etc.thats always has been the question on these sites,, as You said you see who would does this by the actions .. enough said.. Being a dealer myself.. I personally dont like to sell product based on a mad rush of get rich quik deals of tragedys..However 90% of vintage people in Poster are dead now... so in a way my Biggest sales have been in dead people like marilyn , GWTW, bogie.. etc... Just not freshly dead within hours.. the media trades on this as we saw with Carson as theey can use the tributes as a guise. But really it sells magazines and ad spce on TV. I remember the day I took some beatle memorabilia to My Booth downtown and then Harrison Died the next day.. well I thought people would think I had takenit there in anticipation.. but I had no idea he was dying...I felt very sad. recently My favorite celebrity ' Johnny Carson" passed away. I have a very large personal collection and had planeed to sell it... But when he died.. I just thoght it a digrace to sell his stuff just to make a profit.. I looked on ebay after hearing his house was For sale.. I even considered buying it and making a place to remember Johnny By.. I thought wowo I could do that as I liked Carson and would know exactly how to merchandice it and sell Carson stuff.. and I even saw his desk and all kinds of things on ebay... then I thought what did Johnny think??, and what would he want.?. well he was against all the fuss.. and I think he would have been saddened to be made into a tourist attraction..that was his style to be private. My collection was strted in 1980 and I have lots of cool things like a otiginal Amsel tv guide cover dye transfer.. a coffe mug and magazines going back to "who do you trust" in the 50s.. a Guy In Toldo I know went to school with Him in nebraska..so.. i was really a Carson Buff. Its funny how we think we know these people when we dont really.. so his passing gave me all kinds of mixed feelings.. as our emotions sure can fool us into feeling such deep feelings.. especially when tthey play out his entire life for a week staight.. right after i was getting over the tsunami 2 weeks..Ive never had so many deaths as in the lat year.. its been a Rollercoaster. So I decided if I was to show Carson respect well them maybe he wanted to be just remembered.. Ive still thought I may sell my stuff down the road. or donate it to a museum.. I didnt save it because i thought it would appreciate in value.. but because I liked Carson even though never met him.. I spent many hours watching his style, approach and way he treated people and it was a very warm and entertaining time. I learned from that show about many entertainers and had Fun. And to show you how much he cared about people. heres my personal story... My ex wife sent him a letter asking that he send me a still for my Birthday,, well it didnt come.. and she said well i tried.. then,, on Xmas.. alomg came a 8x10 from Johnny it said happy Birthday TOM... so he was a class act to care to send a fan a greeting.. My friend won a photo contest to go on a shoot at Carsons house in Malibu.. he wasnt allowed to speak to him but he did speak with Alex.. Also in 1976 I went to Burbank to the show But I saw freddie Prinze guesthost .. so i went the next day when Carson was there,,, I was the last one at the cutoff point. so I didnt get in !! :( well... what was my Point??:) OHH,, These people that we look at and admire are Just people that also had dreams // Carson was one that made it happen what he dreamed of and yet some damn cigerettes brought him down.. we all have weakness and all have strengths.. so we just need to try to let these show people know when they alive what they mean to us. To trade off thier immediate Deaths before the Body is even put to rest is just plain tacky. On the flipside dealers have to eat and they do sell " memorabilia" so maybe just wait toll someone asks... best, Tom

One that says no one can post a "for sale" notice on movie paper for someone within 7 days of their death? I mean, would it, um, kill anyone to wait at least a few days before trying to cash in on their passing? Really... enough is enough. Personally, I have been making a note of the sellers who regularly engage in this kind of ambulance chasing -- those who immediately rush to try and sell paper on a person the instant they pass -- and I will never buy anything from them. Not ever. How about we each try to find a way to do some small thing... even a tiny thing... to try and bring at least a hint of civility back to this world -- or at least our own little corner of it? Just a suggestion. -- JR
