Rich - other tales,? - well, probably not publicly! The Arbuckle case was a
massive tragedy. Highly recommended is David Yallop's excellent book, THE
DAY THE LAUGHTER STOPPED which not only details the case itself but the way
it was used as a political football at the time... by the scumbags behind
it. The public ban on Arbuckle films in England was never officially
rescinded, such was the power of the media then.

If one chooses to read James Ellroy's "LA Quartet" series as "alternative
history" there is some fascinating background material to the whole
Hollywood sleaze world of the time. As good an adaptation L.A. CONFIDENTIAL
was, what was missing from the film (unless one was familiar with the book
first) was the real historical background to the story.

I'd love to see Scorsese tackle THE BIG NOWHERE. Imagine that story of the
HUAC period covered with the same style as GOODFELLAS for toughness and
CASINO for stylistic lan.

Best to the man in Vegas!
