I would think removing the sticky surface could be potentially very
damaging to the card.
I have been told that *nothing* sticks to Mylar and so far I've found
that to be true. I don't know if your sticky lobby cards would, but giving
Mylar sleeves a try is probably worth a shot in their case. I've seen Mylar
lobby card sleeves available in the 3-ring binder style for a reasonable price
at www.bagsunlimited.com

HI everybody.
I have a question for you. I keep a large portion of
my LCs collection in those 3-ring binders that were (still are?) sold
by Larry Reed from NC, that come together with thick plastic(not sure what
the material is) pockets/pages, and you can buy just additional pages alone,
to add to your binder. Actually, that's the main reason I like
them. It allows you to add a card somewhere in the middle, if you're
really anal about a certain order (chronologigal) as I am.
Here's my question: Are you familiar with those
Warner Bros LCs from the 30's, that come in either the linen-style paper,
and in the "flat" brittle paper? Well, the latter has SOMETIMES
a semi-sticky coating of varnish or something. One of my cards,
a Bogart from the 1937 Black Legion, got stuck to the pocket and
when I removed it some of the surface ink was left behind in the
pocket. The card is obviously damaged. I removed the sticky
surface with a cotton ball and lighter fluid but that's after the
fact. Another one of my cards, 1937 San Quentin, also Bogart, is of
similar paper and similar finish. It was however not that sticky, and
was not damaged when I removed it. Now I'm afraid to put it back in
the pocket. Should I remove the sticky surface?
I did'nt experience this problem with any other type
of card.
What's your experience with those cards?
