I like Irwin Allen who was dubbed "The Master Of Disaster" in the 1970's. When you think of the amount of work that went into building small models like the glass tower in "The Towering Inferno" and the model ship in "The Poseidon Adventure" I think it's quite remarkable before CGI. His collaboration with special effects wizard L.B. Abbott was quite brilliant as well as William Creber. Doing these films without computers is something. The films do still hold up quite well today. Also the legendary casts too could never be put together today. There are more legends in heaven today than living. The majority were legends in these films.
