Hi Craig,
Let me address your points that you made.
1)You've worked with Bruce Hershenson as a
consignor and as a buyer, so you have formed a valid, educated
perception/opinion. Me: Yep! As I stated, my opinions are just that,
opinions. They are based on my personal experiences and observations, which
means WAY MORE than blind specualtion and unconditional support.
2)But people who have known him "for eons" will have difficulty being unbiased.
Me: Yep! Personal relationships usually cloud judgement, you want to believe
the best, and question the worst - how is that unbiased?
3) I feel there's not enough information to form an opinion on the matter.
Me: I disagree. For me, I have enough to question his business practice based
on my personal experiences. I bid with him rarely now, and only if it
something I cannot easily find elsewhere. I'm not "antiBruce" as you say.
He's a nice guy...but, that does not mean I should trust him unconditionally.
4)I think it's fascinating that you can be so detached and perceptive that your
opinions are truly unbiased and valid while everyone else's opinions are
prejudiced by their prior associations. Me: Never said my points were
unbiased - you did. My points are valid only in that I relayed my personal
feelings about my experiences with Bruce, mainly because of all the blind
support he was being given - geesh, nobody is that perfect.
Craig, lighten up. My post articulated my honest and open position in regards
to Bruce. Why don't you post a question to those that blindly support him?
They are being biased as well, and possibly giving NEW people to the hobby
false confidence in his auctions...even when, by their own admission, they
do "not" have all the facts. I believe my shared opinion is more valuable
than "the facts are not in." Experiences are more credible than assumptions.
I ask you: exactly what facts are you waiting for, and when will they be
available to the list? Bruce is not a "bad" person, he is a businessman with a
profit agenda - that, is a "fact." Though his level of arrogance has probably
withered in the last week.
Regards,
Gary
