When we managed and later owned theaters in the 1960's through 1980, we had to purchase all our One Sheets, Lobby Card Sets, etc. through NSS branch in Kansas City. We actually were charged a fee for each poster, etc. When you returned them along with the film to the Iowa Film Depot in Des Moines, (which stored and shipped all film at that time for theaters in Iowa region) you were given a partial credit by NSS for returned items. If you didn't send them back you ended up paying the full amount for the advertising items. We kept almost everything when we owned movie theaters, which is why I have been selling posters for almost six years on eBay, etc.
