While I share your caution about Greenzap, I'm perplexed that you seem to
find something wrong in their marketing offers. When PayPal was first getting
started, they did exactly the same thing. I believe the amount they started out
putting into each new account was $15 instead of the $25 that Greenzap is
offering, but they did give you free money for signing up. Later as they grew
they dropped the amount to $10 and then $5 and eventually dropped it altogether.
And as far as getting paid for referrals, heck, PayPal still has that policy in
effect today and has had it since day one. I don't know what the currently
payout is, but you definitely get money if someone you refer to PayPal opens an
account and has a certain amount of activity associated with it.
These are standard marketing gimmicks, not necessarily the signs of a
scam.
I'm not sure if you're thinking that I am getting money for referring
people to Greenzap, because I'm not. When I reference the service to someone, I
simply give them the standard link, without my name or user account attached to
it in anyway.
I never participated in PayPal's money-for-referrals plan either. I'm not a
big fan of such gimmicks, and like you subscribe to TANSTAFFL when making all my
decisions.
