Barton,   I haven't seen the latest STAR WARS epic either, as I plan to wait until I don't have to stand in line. While there is plenty of room for debate in what your evaluation about worth of the STAR WARS films, since everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm not going to engage in such debate --but I have to wonder at your attitude that seems to imply that there is something "wrong" with creating a film that is a "live action cartoon designed to appeal to the average 13-year old boy". Don't see that there is, nor why you should feel obliged to condemn it (if that's what it is), since no one is forcing you to go see it.   Also, your definition that "films are about people" seems rather narrow. So, a film about animals or insects isn't really a film? Then what is it, pray tell? But even by this narrow definition, you can't deny that STAR WARS has people in it. They may not be your kind of people, but are people nonetheless.   If what you're really trying to say is you object to the entire summer (and most of the rest of the year) in the theater being given over to adolescent and teen-flicks, then just say that. I'd agree with you wholeheartedly then. Don't worry Shelly, you're not the only person who hasn't seen this film.  Nor have I, nor do I have any intention ever to see it, on the big screen or small.  Films are about people.  This film is about things.  It's a film PRODUCT - the equivalent of Velveeta.  If I want cheese, I eat cheese.  If I want to see a movie, I don't go to a live action cartoon designed to appeal to the average 13-year old boy.  Just my 2 cents.
