No, not at all. No fight. I am not arguing with anyone. My copy is
$2500, and that may even be the highest price the poster has sold for.
I don't know. No one does, because there are lots of private sales
whose records are not made public. But it's a wonderful poster, a very
respected film and no one has to buy my copy. I was mistaken about
Heritage's price -- I was looking at the 2003 result (for $1955)
instead of the 2004 result ($1610) -- and Sean corrected me.
But these dealers who "stick together" are largely a figment of your
imagination.
My experience of these dealers is that they are a competitive lot --
and I like most of them.
The day that dealers disappear from this hobby would be a bad day for
the hobby in general, however.
As for THE LETTER, I will sell it. It's a great poster. Also the

THE LETTER is a wonderful poster. They would look great side by side.

dealers inflate prices on MOPO. i speak from tons of firsthand
experiences generated from Want Lists.
i will even state that 2500 for THE LETTER is a steal!!!! (i own
that title.) but, heritage house allowed for a better steal. but
words exchanged.................
i have made great buys on ebay--especially from bruce's high end
auctions. i have done well with grey smith's heritage auctions. And
from these venues, you pay what something is worth, no fanfare.
frankly, i have been shocked at some LOW prices from these sources.
Collectors, like me, often agree that some dealers think that they
struck gold when they see a collector posting a want list, and they
have a sought-after item.
One prime example was that 6 months ago, a dealer quoted me the prices
of two half sheets. he quoted about 325/340 each. someone alerted me
to his web page. guess what? both posters were on the web page for
about 50.00 less each. and it sold on ebay for even less.
my common belief about MOPO: dealers stick together, no matter
what. so, since i have stated that dealers' items on ebay are
costly.............................i can expect some attacks on this
statement.
of course, i know a dealers here who are very
honorable..................
