Hey Folks.. this is the final report on the Cine-Vegas Film Festival that
ended saturday night.

I have to say that it was the most exciting & enjoyable 10 days I have ever
experienced.

There was a long list of films & shorts for the entire 9 days of the
festival itself and 10 of the most incredible parties that I have ever
attended.

The festival is sponsored by Robin Greenspun, wife of Dan Greenspun who
owns Greenspun Media, Cox Cable and much more and Chaired by the great
Dennis Hopper. I was lucky enough to meet all three of them and found them
all to be some of the nicest people I ever met. Dennis was incredibly
gracious and made it a point to compliment the poster exhibit. I had wanted
to meet him.. and when I did I was on cloud 9. I also met Rob Zombie, Steve
Mahone who directed a film called Radiant and all of his actors (they
listened to my comments & even applauded my suggestions of certain changes
to the film, which they said mostly made sense & they were going to do a
re-edit & look at it). I became friends with child actor George Foghorn
Winslow, who had intro'd me to Dennis Hopper and even had a poster lifted
from the exhibit by actor Ethan Embry (no, he has not returned it. Thank
heaven he didnt have good taste as he only took Vegas Vacation ((Kevin, I'm
glad you sold me duplicates!)), Johnny Brenden, Rhonda fleming and others.

Of the many films I saw....

Devil's Rejects which had it's 2nd premiere at the festival was hands down
the best movie shown and I recommend it to everyone on this list. This film
will be a big hit. If Natural Born Killers was an acid trip, Devil's
Rejects is a heroin overdose.

Oh My God.. a 10 minute short by John Bryant. ..a guy comes home to find
his wife stabbed & son shot, proceeds to contaminate the evidence, stab his
wife again, shoot his son's corpse by accident and be seen from outside by
a neighbor holding the bloody butcher knife after removing it from his
wife's chest, gets sent to the electric chair & burns like a roman candle
while the viewer's look on in horror and all through the film the dialogue
is "oh my god.oh my god.oh my god.oh my god......" By the way, it is
totally a comedy & for 9 of the films 10 minutes the entire audience was
rolling in the aisles .. http://www.johnbryantproductions.com/

I also saw Viva Las Vegas on the big screen & enoyed it more than ever.

Saturday night, being the final night was headlined by the world premiere
of George Romero's 4th "dead" film with Land of the Dead. Well, I'm sorry
to be the bringer of bad news folks, but it is far from a blockbuster
movie, however it will make lots of money. The 93 minute story here could
have easily been done in 15 as just one part of a better film and though it
was at least enjoyable, it might only rank 5-6 on a scale of ten while
Devil's Rejects would easily rank 9+

Devil's Rejects was in my opinion, the film of the festival

the parties..... I can't tell you what it's like to see movies, hang with
movie stars & then go party with them also. I have no doubt the 10 parties
cost the Greenspuns 500K-1mil. Probably closer to the top. Sushi bars,
cutting boards, huge pastry setups, hors deurves, caviar. Pedestal dancers,
performers, liquor flowing like streams... each night the parties were at
one of the hot night clubs in town. Whiskey Beach at Green Valley Ranch,
Light at the Bellagio, Tangerine at Treasure Island, Skin at the Palms,
Rain at the Venetian, VooDoo Lounge atop the Rio, a roped off section of
the Fremont Street Experience downtoan where Rhonda Fleming was awarded
Tiffany earrings and a huge trophy while surrounded by 100 Folies Begere
dancers (Rhonda opened the Tropicana back in 1959 and is also the
grandmother of Johnny Brenden, owner of Brenden theatres) and the closing
party saturday night was at Curve at the Alladin. These are the hottest
spots in town.

All in all.. this was such great fun all week it was bitter sweet to see
the show close. Bitter because I want more.. Sweet because now I can sleep
& get back to work

I can't wait until next year when they want me to expand the exhibit.. so
watch here for other related news during the year.
