MoPo'ers:
The problem with mail delivery to AOL subscribers is unrelated to a problem
we had late last week with posts being sent to the MoPo posting address.
Posts sent to the posting address were bounced back to the sender with a
note "user unknown."
American University has taken care of that problem (it had something to do
with an e-mail server that was malfunctioning). Unfortunately, the timing
for this problem couldn't have been worse, what with all the AOL delivery
problems.
There also have been a couple of reports that people who receive the
"digest" version of the group has not been getting those digests. I believe
that was related to the problem at American University that has since been
fixed. Those of you who get digests should let me know if your are
continuing to have problems. If so, I will contact American U again for
help. I can temporarily set your subscription option back to "normal
delivery" until the problem is resolved.
As far as AOL goes....there is nothing I or American University can do. Its
between AOL customers and AOL. I understand there are ways to turn off the
strict spam filtering that AOL imposes, but not being an AOL subscriber
myself I'm not sure how you do it. While spam is a major problem I think AOL
has gone overboard here and complaints are in order.
In the meantime, those affected could subscribe to MoPo using one of the
"free" e-mail accounts that are available (excite, hotmail, yahoo, etc.)
Posts can be read via the Mail-Archive that is available on the filmfan.com
web site. Despite AOL's delivery problems, you are still recognized as
subscribers and can still post to the group.
