Don't remember where I was when I heard the news, but I remember watching a memorial program that night -- on ABC, I think. It seems like the other networks didn't have anything, but I'm not certain. Does anyone remember?
I agree that James Burton is an amazing guitarist. (Oddly, he also performs on at least one Elvis Costello CD.) I disagree about the jumpsuit period. I think Elvis' best recordings are from the 70's (I've Lost You, The Next Step is Love, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Just Pretend, etc.). -rk > From: Greg Douglass <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Reply-To: Greg Douglass <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Date: Wed, 17 Aug 2005 09:14:34 -0700 > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [MOPO] Where Were You 28 Year's Ago Today? > > I was in Houston, Texas, backstage with the Steve Miller band getting > ready to eat after sound check when the news came to us about Elvis. > Oddly enough, I had just met Elvis' amazing guitarist James Burton two > days previously.
