I agree with Mr. Brent; the hatred/dislike against the president is so
intense that some can't resist "piggy-backing" a goodwill message for our
Southern friends with a "throwaway" line that dilutes it; I don't mind "off
topic" stuff (I do it all the time), but my heart sinks when a disaster is
politicized (even mildly) with the intent to provide comic relief. Whether
it's floods or fires, when you're in the middle of it (I should know), you
don't give a s*** about politics. It's truly the furthest thing from your
mind.
