"Am I paranoid or does anyone else get the feeling the entire world
is laughing at us?"
Hello Tom,
I don't think anyone is laughing but they are in shock and disbelief that
this has happened to a major American city, just from the people who have been
through my establishment ( I run a hotel) in the last few days some of
which have visited New Orleans all say what a tragic event it has been.
A few have mentioned the fact that New Orleans and the surrounding
areas have always been in a precarious position with mother nature for many a
decade now and that's what goes with the terriotry.Me myself looking in from
what I have seen on the news and read about am prettty shocked as
to why the defenses of a city such as New Orleans were not maintained and
updated to the requirements needed, I believe the levees would not withstand a
force 3 or 4 hurricane.
Perhaps it might have been in the areas best interest if the people who
profited so much from the oil and gas-rich Mississippi delta, if they had put
money back into the area that had supported them so well, after all are'nt they
the people who altered the natural landscape of the region beyond recognition.
I'm not laughing and I have not met anyone who has.
Best Wishes to everyone affected and those still in the area.
Simon
