One can donate to The American Red Cross or to the Salvation
Army. If Austin is any example, there are numerous local
initiatives where one can give money for relief. The important
thing is to do it.

I went to the FEMA site and 5 organizations are listed to give
direct money
contributions. Number 3 is an organization called Operation
Blessing. Upon
closer inspection Operation Blessing is a non profit Evangelical
Christian
organization that has a very close relationship with George W. Bush
as one
of the Faith Based operatives in the White House. Operation
Blessing is
governed by a national board of directors that includes founder M. G.
Robertson and retired COO Robert W. Fanning. This is the same M.
G. (Pat)
Robertson that last month called for the assassination of Hugo Chavez,
President of Venezuela. This is the same Pat Robertson who on TV
700 Club
denounces non Christian and atheistic people, unwed mothers,
feminists,
homosexuals, and anyone who does not believe in evangelical addenda.
And FEMA lists Operation Blessing as one of 5 organizations to
donate money!
This was not random nor an accidental choice. M. G. Robinson has
a foot in
every door in the the Bush white house and presses recognition at
every
opportunity. The duplicity and hypocrisy of listing Operation
Blessing on
FEMA is a transparent political favor and outrageous by
implication. The
following quote is from the Operation Blessing website as directed
by the
FEMA listing. "In every endeavor, OBI seeks to exemplify Christian
compassion and benevolence while conforming to the highest
standards of
integrity."
In other words, following the directives of Pat Robinson, don't ask
for help
if you are an unwed mother, gay, or a non Christian. I am not
making this
up. I pulled all this information off Google in the past 30 minutes.
