Fellow MoPoers:
Many thanks for your kind words and prayers.
Hurricane Rita passed through Houston leaving minimal damage: falling
limbs, power outages, broken windows, etc. We were without power for four
hours, suffered minor property damage and some falling branches and leaves. We
were truly fortunate. Our thoughts and prayers are now with the folks in Beaumont, Port Arthur, Lake Charles and the other
cities who felt and are still feeling Rita’s fury.
I have only been in touch with poster dealer Marc Schooley,
who rode the storm out with his family in Clear Lake.
Again, they had only slight damage and did not suffer a power outage.
If you have been watching the news, the major concerns now
are : 1) the return of the millions who evacuated and 2) the possibility that
Rita may stall and inundate parts of East Texas, Arkansas
and Louisiana.
Though state, city and county officials have discouraged returning, already
traffic is streaming inward on all major freeways. Plans how to handle the
hundreds of thousands of returning cars are due to be announced shortly.
As I finish this letter, the sun broke through momentarily.
It will be a good day….
Thank you again for your concern…..
