Hi everyone Australian posters that were produced by the Richardson Studio have gained a big following over the last few years. The graphic art on many of them is quite unique and the style is always distinctive. The daybill for the Blue Dahlia is a case in point. John Richardson started the Richardson Studio in the early 20s and produced the artwork for many of the Paramount posters right through to about 1960. Most were unsigned.
The latest Heritage signature auction has a fine example of an early Richardson Studio poster in "The Humming Bird" with Gloria Swanson (1924). This is also fairly unique in that it carries the signature of John Richardson. He signed a few pieces in the early 20s but the majority of Richardson Studio posters went unsigned.
