Just a note to the members about sniping --- and I do this because I
have posted
here before that if you really want something, you should snipe to
get it.

Using a sniping service like e-snipe is often a good method, and I
use it
quite often, but it is not infallible. Last week I wanted an item -
actually two
items - in Bruce Hershenson's weekly ebay auction. So I set a bid
with e-snipe.

But if you recall recent postings to mopo, you will remember that
some concerns
were raised about ebay and passwords. So -- I changed my ebay password.

I also changed my e-snipe LOG-IN password. But I forgot to reflect
the change of
ebay password within the e-snipe account settings.

You can guess the result. My bids were rejected by ebay for security
reasons and
I quite likely lost the item because of this.

Now you may say, and quite rightly, that this was human error, and it
was.

But my point is this. I should have backed up my sniping, in this
instance, with
a regular bid, because this was an important item for me. It would
not have cost
me anything - you can't bid against yourself - and I would have
probably won this
item.
