Thanks Marty, Bob and everyone else for their explanations. They do
make
sense; I agree it's a waste of time to hear climbing bidding
increments if
the house already has two competing absentee bids which are higher
than an
opening bid closer to the low end of a catalog estimate. I just wish
auctioneers would make that clear prior to such lots. Heck, even a
declaration, "we have competing absentee bids starting at X dollars,"
would
take just a couple of seconds.
