I took my 6 year old on opening night and gave him a warning that Kong dies since he is a huge animal lover, then I am the one with a couple tears rolling down and he is just sitting there watching like any other scene.   I enjoyed the film immensely. It kept my sons interest for 3 hours which is almost unheard of.   Peter Jackson, to me, mixes popcorn flair with well crafted story telling better than about anyone right now.
