I have never seen this style.  I am only familiar with the Maxfield Parish-esque version with the grandfather reading to the grandson in sillouette.

 

Can anyone share a photo?

the one that shows the boat and characters hanging from the cliff by a rope on the left and the main characters more in close up on the right.
