Good Lord, Scott, you wouldn't want us to actually wade through posts discussing movies, would you? :)

I saw "Brokeback" last night and I don't think I'd classify it as a Western.

Yes, it takes place in Wyoming, yes they herd sheep, yes they wear cowboy
hats. But I don't think that makes it a Western.

You could make the 2 leads pineapple farmers in Hawaii or long-haul truck
drivers. It's the *relationship* that's the focus of "Brokeback."

It's funny, but I never really looked upon "Hud" with Paul Newman as a
"Western." Same thing here.

And a note to JR who thinks we're going too far off-topic.... personally I
have no problem with *any* movie-related discussion on MoPo. Our posting
guidelines (check out the FAQ) support this.

This is something we might want to discuss as we enter a new year. Have we
been too restrictive with our "all movie posters all the time" edict? I must
say some of the discussions about "King Kong" and "Brokeback Mountain" have
actually made me enjoy reading the posts on MoPo. While I don't mind eBay
notices, I need more in my movie-centric life. Comments?

Happy New Year to all, BTW.
