Tom,

Did you get a figure on what the final weight of the package was? It sounds like $200 for second-day shipping was an incredibly good price. By the way, I lost the link to your auction on the Millennium Falcon -- what was the final bid?

Subject: Re: [MOPO] Fs On ebay- a sellers story. the force is with us..

Mopo..... we did it.... we shipped a  5 foot wide 6 foot long Millenium
Flacon Star wars ship and it made it in One piece!!!

we about died when we saw a person in Japan had one the Giant display
ship... needless t say we hoped a Local person wouldjust show up woth a
Truck and pick up..

I sold this for my son a devout Star wars  Fanatic!!  tI mean advanced
Collector..:)  anyway after  I convinced Him to help me pack it we spent
a Night and part of a day packing it....  we had to make a 6 foot box x
5 foot and be able to move it outthe door... and we had to ship By truck..

well the Guy had us ship to the states to hi parents so we  had to get
rates... I was quoted up to 1000.00 by most shippers However we Found
fed ex frieght the best at like 200.00  they had it there in one day..
and they were nice to deal with even the driver was helpful and Polite..
we told them what it was and they  were extra carefull.

sohow did we pack it??? well we used 1/8 inch foam rolls an wrapped it
all around like a Mummy then we used Rolls of bubblle wrap

we made so many revolutions around it with streatch wrap and foam we
both became sick  from vertigo that we had to wait until next day to
finish.. then we made a Box out of four Boxes tahat we used flat
corrogated to brace and we used air pillows..( look like ballons ) to
fill all voids
we setthe ship om 4x4 cradles of styrofoam and then strech wrapped the
entire Box and labeled it like it was part of a touring Smithsonian
exhibit ... then we just hoped that it would get there without being
shattered or drooped or run over by a Forlift,,
But Today... the Buyer gave us a Nice feedback and sais it arrived fine...
I told my son wait until he spent the Money Just in case!

anyways... I feel we can ship about anything after that...........
man..................How I like small parcels..

I hope to have many more Goodies on Ebay soon and thanks For all the
support and business From  Mopoers and B-list people

also... the Gift I plan to Give to Mopo and B list is my design for a
Poster shooting easel stand... a few years back John Kisch and I were
talking about How it would be cool if there was a frame availible to
shoot posters on Like a lithographeres vacuum frame.. he was looking for
one..
manystat camers had them to talke pics and halftones in Litho shops.. by
the wayPeter Jackson of King Kong was a lithographer....

anyways,,, I made a prototype of the Poster shooter and it works
great,,, I was planning on selling them  but then I got sidetracked by

having a Life meltdown episode...:)   so I thoght why not just tell you
all how to make them and then you can all have a easier time of selling
posters.. the premice is simple.. a frame holds the poster in place by
vacuum... ( useing a common shop vac as the vac source... with a Foot
pedal you activate the suction and it holds and then when turned off
releases the poster... the catch is getting the right suction so as to
not damage posters..I dont reccomend for fragile titles..But if you have
1000s of enamel coated stock 70s and 80s.. this think will crank it out
as fast as you can click a camera... you can get all the parts at Home
depot... and it will cost under 100.00  I will take a Photo ofmy cobbled
unit protoype... and I wil even be using it when I do posters in the
future on ebay,,, this unitallows you to float the posters in space..
against a Background.. two lights are used at45 degree axsis to the art.
Its bassicall a stat camera setup just lighter and without a glass overlay..

anyway when I get time Illtake some Photos and  share it with anyone
that wants to make one... with experimantation with baffles it can work
for magazines, stills, about anya pape art...... I havent used mine much
as I am Lazy... :)  But onece i start shooting Posters I will Unless
some wize MOPER BUYS my Bulk lots of 60 70 and 80s posters out :)

Happy new year Folks

best, Tom
