Dear Jeannie,

Hi from Joe Bonelli.

Not to get involved in the fray, here.  Just a note to thank you for the great read!!  I just LOVE reading well-written English diatribes!!

The backs and forths of your "debate" with the Gentleman of the Other Forum have been vastly entertaining.  And you, dear new friend Jeannie, are certainly the stylistic and grammatical winner (and probably the actual one as well.)

I'm SOOOO (and that is su-POSED to be "loud!") sick and tired of the DREAD-ful use of English in this silly "computerspeak" that we must dig through. All the silly *s and
)._:'s and )/"?^'s and "cute" misspellings and WRETCHED supposedly-correct spelling and grammar...etc, etc, etc. (And, yes, I left the periods off those "etc's" and put too many commas in this sentence on purpose!)  All ! this communicative crap devised by the untutored to take place of well-chosen WORDS!!

Jeannie, your icy, acidic dismissal of this last missive from the Dean of the MPF is just too, too much!!  Really REAL English!!!  Brilliant use of  <"civility, rationality and
professionalism"> -- and a pretty good vocabulary too!

And, Andy, don't think I'm taking you to task or jumping into this fray----  I just think she out-bitched you!
That's all.

(Imagine a slight grin in place of a pseudo-happy-faced smiley.)

Joe B.

PS--  The BBC America 2-hour heavily-edited BAFTA award show just finished. If you haven't yet seen the winners' list I won't spoil it for you.
Safe to say, though, that the host, the brilliant, acerbic and hysterically funny Stephen Fry, m! ade the two-hours a feast for the ear with his own loquaciousness and superb sense of timing.
Might I be so bold to suggest that Jon Stewart ask Mr. Fry to join him as host of the Oscars two weeks hence?  They could invite a peppery young doctor from Houston to come in and "deliver" the goods-- along with a few tart comments!!

Regards!!  (Love that saluation!)

Joe

It is being discussed in the same way that Style B and other
disagreements are being discussed on MoPo. The difference with MoPo is
that it is an equal playing field and you, Andy, do not have the
advantage of being an administrator to censor and delete messages as a
preemptiv! e strike to prevent others from getting wind of what you have
been doing. People are discussing it on MoPo because they want to have
a chance in a public forum to counter your claims and assertions, since
you do not afford them that same opportunity on your own forum.

Here, you cannot block people from reading what others have to say about
your conduct, your actions and your methods. In essence, you are being
exposed by individuals here in the converse way that you repress them on
MPF.

Please rest assured that I am in full command of my faculties and am
very aware of your efforts at redirecting the focus away on the real
issue, which is your behavior towards other people on here, on MPF and
in general. This is the third time that you have alluded to someone
directing my actions as if I have no self-determination nor mind! of my
own. Be careful where you tread with this, Andy. I did not get through
11 years of schooling and training to become a physician because I am
anyone's puppet. Do not mistake civility, rationality and
professionalism on my part as a weakness in being able to respond to
you. This is how I choose to interact with individuals such as yourself
who display little of the same.

Your play at innocence is disengenous and smacks of someone desperately
grasping at the heartstrings of others to make a play for sympathy. As
I said before, your actions are your own worse enemies. Address the
problems that you have been confronted with, not just from me but from
the multitude of other people who have one time or another attempted
rational discourse with you, instead of re! sorting to bans, deletions and
censorship.

Regards,
Jeannie
