For all of you wondering about this post... I received a normal subscription request from an address at American University. It looked like every other request I receive--nothing out of the ordinary.
Within an hour of activating the subscription, the "research" post appeared. >From what I can tell, it really is from a class at AU, and I believe they just subscribed to several well-populated listserv groups that are on AU's listserv system. Most of those groups ARE directly tied to the AU community. Many are academic related so they probably didn't mean to spam us. Just ignore it. That e-mail address has been removed from list membership.
