Yuck.  Ptui.

But then, some of us don't like sniping.  Some of us would
prefer the more-real-world "auction ends N minutes after the
last bid is placed".  That's unlikely but sure seems better
than institutionalizing sniping into the system.

No.  Bad idea.  Then any joker can move any piece for any
reason.  To correct an error.  Because they think it's funny.
To do dirt to a seller they don't like.  To try to hide something
they're bidding on.  Don't let random users make changes
to anything.
