I disagree with all of the remarks by sellers but you are sellers.  I am a collector and frankly I resent this stupid scenario by ebay in which a person looks for a "best offer".  Ebay was originally and essentially an auction venue in which the high bid wins.  However, in its most greedy fashion it has invented this "best offer" tripe as a solution for obtaining fees from sellers while attempting to stop sellers from ending auctions in midstream.  Many times in the past sellers stopped auctions for thinly disguised reasons because they received an email which made them an offer to stop the auction and accept their bid privately.  These infuriated ebay and they have tried to capitalize on this premise.  That was because they did not reap a percentage of the sales price from the seller.

However, it is not being used as an auction but as a tool by sellers to elicit the highest bid possible from collectors while at the same time retaining possession of the poster they allegedly are offering at a "reasonable" price.  Most posters that have been offered, have been offered at ridiculous prices with the seller literally saying you can "buy it now" at that price if you are a fool but you also can make me an offer which if also very high will allow me to take your money.  However, I really will not part with it unless the price is sky high.  It allows sellers to siphon the highest possible bid from a collector dumb enough to offer it.  I will never give a seller on ebay my highest offer for a poster.  He knows what I am willing to pay for it without having to sell it to me.  At a poster show it is different because you can haggle in person and everything you do in a face to face situation is a far cry from a faceless ebay "best offer" situation.   If he wants to sell it then I say, list it at an opening price you will accept and see if it sells. At least I know that my best bid, if highest, will get the poster.

As for best offers, I avoid them like the plague.

While we are at it------------I also will not chase reserves.
