I suggest it's something more along the lines of new bidders,
regardless of the popularity of Realart paper. Bidders who weren't
looking for that piece for whatever reason, be it they were otherwise
focused, they now have more money or their wantlists are getting shorter.
Keep in mind, one of the main reasons for Realart paper is that it is
within financial reach of the mid-level collector, while the
originals are so far above most people. Some collectors collect the
entire range of titles all at once while others focus on the bigger
titles & then work downwards for completion.

The facts and foibles of auctions never cease to bewilder me. Here's
a WEREWOLF OF LONDON half sheet I've been tracking, folded with
quite a few small tears and pinholes, which has a starting bid at
Heritage of $920 (with buyer's premium):
<http://movieposters.heritageauctions.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=633&Lot_No=28583>http://movieposters.heritageauctions.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=633&Lot_No=28583
And yet, just a mere short 4 months ago Heritage sold this same
half-sheet, rolled with no folds or tears and virtually no condition
issues for $862.50 (including buyer's premium) with 5 bids competing:
<http://movieposters.heritageauctions.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=624&Lot_No=28831&src=pr>http://movieposters.heritageauctions.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=624&Lot_No=28831&src=pr<http://movieposters.heritageauctions.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=624&Lot_No=28831&src=pr>
...so, is the inflation in RealArt horror paper really all *that*
severe, or is this just a case of the seller insisting on an
unrealistically high reserve?
