[MOPO] Films Better Than the Books?

Am I the only one who feels the movie, "The Wizard of Oz" is better than the book?  Or have none of you read it? 

 

Were "The Graduate" and "Love Story" films before books or the other way around?  Both followed the stories so closely that it was almost like reading the movie scripts instead of the novels.
