Ok... My son Tommy rently went to San Diego. When I heard that I
asked on Mopo if Greg Douglass could contact me. Greg is a very
accomplished musician and Tommy was traveling with his bandmates so i
thought it would be cool to shake hands with a Pro. Gre was a meber of
Steve Miller Band amounst many others and wrote " Jungle Love" for Miller.
Anyways.. Sue heim the wize gave me his cll and we spoke.. also Joe
Bonnelli emailed him .. so thanks to you all.
Tommy and Greg couldnt get shedules in Line however Greg called Tommy
so that was a big honor for a upstart Musician at 19.
Thanks Greg and hope someday you meet Tommy.
So then Out of the Blue i get a email from Mopo member Ira
Ruebenstein.. Ira is Vice president at Sony Columbia pictures in La.
Also hes a Mensch of the highest degree, and he offerd a VIP tour of
the sony backlot to Tommy and Friends... Its the old MGM studios..
So Imagine Tommys reaction to that! So they hopped a Bus to
Hollywood from San diego and saw Hollywood met Ira and took the tour.
The Boys were in awe seeing holywood sound stages..and Adam Sandler
was in back of them in a Golfcart so they say. Anyways Ira is
teh Official 2nd Dad to Tommy in Hollywood and we have both been in
shock that he did that . Thank You IRA!
Ok so then there was another thing,,,,I was conaced one dayby Email
from a Martin Thomas... who said it was his Birthday... Isaid well
ihave no idea who you are but Happy Birthday...
see my name is Thomas martin.... his name Martin Thomas.. so we
emailed afew Jokes etc...It turns out Marty Thomas makes films in Palm
springs For MTV and has done a whos who of Rock videos,, so I asked
marty if he wanted to meet Tommy on his visit,,,, he said well Im busy
on shoots , I said ok thanks...
so On Tommys like last day... he gets a Call from Marty.. he says
Tommy how would you like to be AD ( assistant to director) On my next
projects??? a ad basically does Gopher work.. yet for Tommy to see
all the inner workings and be in California would be educational and
he would be with real working filmmakers.... so next we plan to get
him situated and figure where he would live and car and stuff as hes
only 19
and this would be a Big change.. we are in toatl shock and ive had a
hard time just digesting what happened in 1 week.
so Thats the power of MOPO and how it can affect the dreams of a
Young 19yr old from Toledo,Ohio.
Tommys home here and is playing a concert in Michigan today in his
band " damn the Torpedoes" which you can hear on- MYspace.com
He tookthe name from ' Dr.strangelove" although later found that Tom
Petty had a album by same name..
anyway.... perhaps Tommy and I may be at Cinevent if we can as Steve
Haynes was very kind to offer us a table there... I just have too
much stuff ,, and have offerd the entire lot includeing my
manufactureing for 350K On ebay id - dreamfactory
Ill be 50 soon and need a change of view,,,,,, and JR ,, the beachouse
peoplehave come back and offered me 2000 towards closing...:)
I still have made no decision as Im waiting to see what transpires in
many areas..
