Thanks to everyone for such a nice welcome into the group, and another big
thanks to those who sent encouragement and enquiries re my Metropolis
aluminum sculpture. I'll respond to those questions below. I'm very
satisfied with the reactions to the piece so far....over 300 hundred hits!
Dan: to answer your question, yes, I do also work in bronze. I'm actually
thinking of making one or two Metropolis pieces in bronze, but the price
would increase significantly; the cost for the metal alone is about 3 times
the aluminum, plus it requires a whole new wax mold, a different foundry and
unique finishing tools.
Tom: thank you for suggestion, I will follow up on it as it sounds like a
viable outlet.
Mike: the studio logos would be cool rendered in metal, but I'm a little
unsure of the legality with that one: I don't want a bunch of lawyers on my
front lawn.
Kirby: thanks for your kind words, and thanks for answering your own
question.
And to address a general question, I am committing to produce this piece in
a limited number of no more than 25. I will be showing a few through
galleries and art shows, but the price will be higher than the start price
on ebay. This is a very labor intensive process, and the lead time for
production is about 6-8 weeks.
