The May Special Event sale was a moderate success. 162 of the 308

as you can all tell, there were lots of great bargains and though
there were some savvy dealers who did win many of these items at
these incredible prices.. Many collectors also had lots of fun.
In addition, other MPB sellers sold $1800+ worth of other posters on
that day, indicating that bidders were looking through out the site
for items they wanted. We thank everyone who participated in the growth of MPB
Then after the auction I went to Cinevent in Columbus.. All I can say
is "what fun I had". Hundreds of thousands of cool posters were all
over the room. Plus stills, lobby cards & so much more. Fortunately
Cinevent goes from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm and that gave me lots of time
to go through HUGE stacks of lobby cards, posters, stills & whatever
else. I can't think of much else as much fun as going through 50,000
lobby cards, or blasting through 10,000 1 sheets one seller had on
the last day I was there (I had to go fast. that dealer was leaving
in 3 hours). As a result, I brought home piles & piles of items that
you will soon be seeing for auction on MPB.
It was also fun to see all the great posters Morris Everett, Marty
Davis & John Ours were selling in the Hollywood Poster Auction...
Many great posters & other items hammered down as we all watched.
Much more fun than it sounds like I can assure you.
So then when I got home, I had to deal with 105 degree weather.. and
the AC was out at the office/warehouse where I do most of my work.
Kinda tough working in 105 in a closed environment.. Thank heaven
that yesterday the AC guy finally came out & repaired the
compressor.. I am now, back to work!
I am currently listing as many of the hundreds of 1 sheets I have
stacked & waiting to be listed, for auctions to start on Monday June
12. Each poster will start at just $9.99 and the auctions will close
on June 19. Possibly as many as 500 posters will be listed (if I can
get that much done). This isn't cheese folks.. many cool posters will
be sold in this sale. As usual, I hope I can get all of you to help
me out & list as many new listings as you can & relist all of your
unsold items as well.
During the Special Event, I was able to get you folks to list so much
we had almost 2700 items for sale on the site. I would love to see us
surpass the 3000 items mark & head on to the next benchmark - A
WHOPPING 5000 POSTERS.
lately there have been FULL COLOR full page ads in Big Reel, MCW &
Classic Images for the July 30th Special Event auction as I am
working very hard to promote the site for that day. Among the sellers
who are participating in this special event are (Abe), John Reid,
Jens Reinheimer and myself (of course). Abe is the focus of this
event & we thank him for putting up for auction all the great items
you see in the color ads - and in the flyers that I have been
distributing everywhere I can. Among the posters Abe is selling are
Charlie Chan, Mr Moto, Marz Bros, silent & early talkie posters like
Secret Six, Smart Money, Woman in the Moon and much more. 200 items
from this fabulous seller and over 400 items from other sellers
involved in this event. Anyone else wishing to have a "session" on
July 30th must let me know now so I can finish the scheduling of each
session. Each seller will have a specified "window" for their
session. Abe kicks off the day at 12:00 noon. I'm sure this event
will be a great success as I have been fielding many inquiries from
registered & not yet registered bidders alike.
We have also been adding many new members. We are slowing climbing
our way up to 600 registered bidders, and these are all serious
poster collectors, not "lurkers". These bidders are looking for
posters to buy. Don't disappoint them. GET YOUR POSTERS LISTED.
By the way, at Cinevent I was wooing every dealer at the show & soon
we should be seeing poster listings from, among other sellers,
Stephen Sally, Cory Glaberson, Roberto Varella, Dan Strebin and many
others including DVD sellers & 16mm film dealers also.
As you can all probably tell... I'm working really hard to make
MoviePosterBid.com the best place & Fan favorite spot for movie
posters. Get in on the fun.
