That's why I have come to rely on the prices realized database at www.icollectmovieposters.com/start-movieposters/start-sold for much of my pricing decisions. If Realtors rely on "comparables" to appraise real estate values, I think it is reasonable that collectors do much the same thing, looking at price history over time to come up with a reasonable evaluation.

I thought the group would like to see a true example of the price diversity on eBay. I collect Arnold Schwarzenegger material (posters, lobby card sets, presskits) and always have some of my favorite searches tuned for these items. I have both US onesheet versions for "Hercules in New York" that rarely show up on eBay. Recently, one of the styles appeared on eBay (by the same seller that I purchased mine). I was very pleased when it ended (on May 6th) at $449 since I had only paid around $150 for mine some years ago. Here is the recent listing:The same seller than posted another one hoping to sell it at the same price. I was again surprised to see that it sold (on June 14th) for only $78.77. Here is that listing:I know these are authentic, so there is no question there. I just thought it was interesting to see the difference in prices. How do you tell the TRUE value of a poster? Do you take an average? I would like to know if the one I own has really increased in value. Thanks.
