I am pretty new to collecting movie posters, normaly I buy only from
emovieposter.com I have also bought from moviegoods the nostalgia factory
and most recently heritage auction. About a year ago I decided to buy from
some one on ebay who was not a dealer. I bought 3 8x10 stills of Lauren
Bacall from ebay it was an antique dealer who did not do a lot with movie
items but had good feed back and as a bacall fan I realy liked the photos if
I remeber correctly I paid somewhere in the $100-$150 range. Now I was
wondering if there is any way to tell if these are originals or reprints.
The pictures are all very sharp, I run a printing press for a living and I
will admit I could not print something of this quality. they all say LAUREN
BACALL Warner Bros.-First National Pictures small type has copyright warner
bros. and some imfo on the material being leased and only to be used
promoting the movie etc.my main concern about the pictures is they all
measure 8X10.25 not 8X10 and was wondering if anyone new if there were
8X10.25 stills made. I just pulled one of the three of my wall and in the
photo it says Bacall 87 in the bottom left corner I am not sure what that
means if anything. and I have seen this same image on the confidential agent
poster 1945 If any one has imformation on how to spot a reprint or if they
made 8X10.25 stills please let me know.
