Yes, it's a case where the reissue is a great reissue.
I could not remember the reissue as having 1937 printed on it.
Their bad! (NOT they're bad).

Yes, as Bruce points out...and I was at the preview,
the IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT clearly says 1937 in the
margin! This is not one of those cases where the 1934
version has an obscured "4" in the date- this was a
very clear 1937 printed on a minty mint 1-sheet. The
fact that this poster was used in all Bonham's
promotion and then withdrawn is also a major
embarassment. Having said that, as Freeman points
out, the poster was fantastic looking and in great
condition/unrestored. It should do just fine if it
comes up for sale again properly identified.

Damn

I missed that Bonhams auction yesterday. I heard
they had a STRANGERS
ON THE TRAIN insert. I have been trying to find that
baby in top
condition for quite some time, and I understand the
one they had was
in "A-" condition (I have the catalog right here in
front of me and
it says so). Anyone know what it went for, and if it
was in as cherry
condition as they said?

I heard that they mis-identified the It Happened One
Night one-sheet
as original, when it was actually the 1937
re-release. Of course I
completely understand that that kind of mistake can
happen to even a
top professional movie poster expert, because it is
easy to miss the
"1937" RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM LEFT OF THE POSTER.
